By exploiting resistant PrP alleles in currently available white-tail and elk genetic pools, and searching various isolated populations for evidence of additional resistance mechanisms, a suitable approach to improving CWD resistance in farmed cervids may be identified. Ultimately, genetic resistance to CWD may be a critical corner piece in the management of CWD in farmed cervids – an approach which has been used effectively to reduce the incidence of scrapie in sheep worldwide. Vaccine development is currently underway at several institutions, though an effectively protective strategy has yet to be identified. A blood test would be ideal however rudimentary assays currently in development have yet to be evaluated blindly on naturally occurring populations or on a large scale. Nasal brush collections have likewise proven both sensitive and practical for identification of prion infections in humans, though in cervids both rectal biopsy and nasal brush collection sensitivity is critically dependent on stage of infection and genetic background. At present, biopsies of the recto-anal mucosalassociated lymphoid tissues (RAMALT) have shown promising sensitivity in various assays and are not impractical to collect in live animals. The antemortem detection of CWD and other prion diseases has proven difficult, due in part to difficulties in identifying an appropriate peripheral tissue specimen and complications with conventional test sensitivity. The management of CWD in farmed cervids will require three avenues of research: 1) the development of a sensitive live animal test, 2) the discovery and implementation of a safe and effective vaccine strategy, and 3) with or without a vaccine, the identification and cultivation of CWD-resistant cervids. deer, elk, and moose), and is the only known prion disease affecting both free-ranging wildlife and captive animals. ![]() Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is an efficiently transmitted spongiform encephalopathy of cervids (e.g. ![]() ![]() – Class 02 – Light: Knight: protector class knights are proficient at both attack and defense can use shields, weapons, and healing magic to defend their allies – Duran has nothing but love for his kingdom and respect for the Hero King, a good friend of his departed father, Loki the Golden Knight – Though he comes across as hot-headed and ready for a fight, the whole kingdom acknowledges his skill with a blade – Duran is a proud young soldier from Valsena, Kingdom of the Plains – With a Dark class, Duran gains lots of attack power and can be unstoppably strong if properly buffed – With a Light class, Duran can learn healing magic and equip a shield, making him a balanced fighter – The Light and Dark classes are proficient in different abilities and attacks ![]() – When changing class, you can pick either the “Light” or “Dark” path depending on how you want to develop the character’s abilities – New classes allow the characters to learn new class strikes and magic spells – Another way to strengthen your characters besides leveling up is switching classes – Shadow: Shade – A spirit that possesses the power of darkness, which can manipulate shadows and swallow up everything it has large, black wings and a giant eyeball – Light: Wisp – A spirit with the power to cast away evil with its dazzling light it has deep, theoretical knowledge of light – Wood: Dryad – A spirit that rules over the trees and wields strong mana power she has lushly green, leaf-like hair – Moon: Luna – A spirit that has the power to cast a mysterious light and lead peoples’ hearts astray it is surrounded by four feather-esque wings covered in light – Wind: Jinn – A spirit of that possesses the power of wind and can control the wind, clouds, and thunder its large ears can hear messages carried by the wind – Fire: Salamander – A spirit that possesses the power of fire and wields a fiery spear, attacking with scorching fire and lava it is a passionate spirit with a burning heart ![]() – Water: Undine – A spirit that possesses the power of water and can make it hail by gathering up cold air a sentimental spirit, she cannot overlook a person in trouble ![]() – Earth: Gnome – A spirit that possesses the power of earth and can manipulate large rocks beard and green, pointy hat are its trademarks – The hero finds her and they join forces – However, she collapses on the way, too weak to complete her journey alone – Faerie ventures out of the sanctuary to warn Wendel’s Priest of Light of the fading power of the Mana Tree – Each of the eight spirits has different traits, powers, and a way of speaking – Spirits are beings that will you will encounter on your journey and lend you their power – Though he’s usually wary of people, he’s surprisingly helpful – The party first met this mysterious ruler of the seas on Beuca Island ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But if you want a weapon that kills everything remotely near your reticle, you might prefer the Kuva Ayanga. I would think twice about getting a super short, thick board in Hyfi. I’ve never felt the strange warbly feedback on bigger choppy waves that a normal epoxy produces. The sandwich and fibre weave seems to dull down the chop and they still handle bigger conditions. But cost withstanding and despite arriving late into the epoxy game, JS has nailed the construction. They can add in a fourth, at $1199 it’s also expensive. And that’s what I look for in a board, as do a lot of surfers. Having surfed a lot of Hyfis over several years I would have to agree with JS’s three claims of faster, lighter, stronger. It was lighter, felt so sparky under foot – seems like it was spring loaded compared to the PU. I had a 5’9″ PU Monsta Box, which was a great board, when it came out in Hyfi (5’9″ again) I grabbed that and it was next level, way better than the PU version. That way it won’t feel too “corky”, or feel like you can’t sink it into turns. That’s why you may notice that the same dimension board will have more litres of volume in PU than it will in the Hyfi epoxy version. They’re slightly more buoyant and because of this JS head shaper, Jason Stevenson, trims a bit of extra bulk out. Hyfis have definitely got a good spark to them. Having done a lot of testing now I’d have to agree with JS’s claim on this one. I’ve even had several wash up on the rocks after snapping a leash and had minimal damage. Over the years I’ve subjected them to many heavy situations in Raglan where I’ve been sure I’d emerge to see them in two pieces, but not even a scratch. Seven Hyfis in and I’ve creased just one – and that was mostly user error – I rode it into dry sand. I talked with a major board distributor recently who told me they see far more stringer-less epoxy boards buckle than PU boards … including JS Hyfi’s. For me I’d rather have an amazing board that might not last over a pig that I’ll have forever. I’m picking that it’s because those who go for JS’s typically want a good time over a long time. That could be because JS’s PU boards have a terrible reputation for snapping and buckling. JS’s website claims that their epoxy boards last longer than PU boards. The lightness makes them so easy to throw around and that really pays dividends for more advanced surfers. I pick up a PU board now and it feels remarkably heavy. I’ve had seven Hyfis now and I’d have to say this sounds about right to me. JS claims that its Hyfi boards are 20 percent lighter than the comparable PU version and if you get a Hyfi it’s pretty much the same weight that Parko, Jules, Dusty, etc get with their boards. The claim is that this construction is faster, stronger and lighter. It also has a diamond-shaped fibre weave on the bottom and over the rails. The carbon strips were initially just on the bottom, but now feature on the top where they are used to strengthen and control the board’s flex. Hyfi, or hybrid fiber, as JS calls it is essentially a stringer-less epoxy core with a few fancy layers sandwiched together and carbon strips. Photo: Derek MorrisonĪnd so the Hyfi was born. JS were relatively late to the epoxy party with most of the other big international board brands having an offering a year or two before them. Friends had been talking up the JS Industries boards, but I wasn’t keen to go there until I could order an epoxy. ![]() Regardless I stuck with epoxy boards for 1-4ft clean waves. But as soon as there was any chop, or if the waves got solid there would be this strange warble through the board – it would flex all over and feel all kinds of wrong. I had more paddle, more spring underfoot and felt five years younger going into a bottom turn. Still epoxy-curious, I ordered an early Channel Islands wooden-stringer epoxy and I was hooked. Not impressed with either performance or longevity I was back onto trusty PU boards. The surf-shop sales grom turned an epoxy board upside down and jumped up and down on it to demonstrate the flex and how strong it was – I promptly ordered a custom which I waited three months for and then broke it within three weeks. Photo: Derek MorrisonĪbout 10 years ago I made my first foray into the world of epoxy surfboards. Carbon strips along the bottom add strength and control flex. Like a good comb over, I’ve been trialing different surfboard constructions in an attempt to keep my surfing in the more vertical range rather than horizontal. As a 40-something year old grommet with 30 years of surfing under the belt, I’ve got an insatiable hunger to surf as well as I can before the inevitable decline of aging sets in for good. ![]() ![]() Manufacturers publish blog posts announcing that new DisplayLink drivers are validated with their hardware, it’s probably good to check with your manufacturer before updating. only 4 external displays are supported screen rotation is not supported Clamshell mode is partially supported.
